Instinct vs. Logic

Whom does one trust unreservedly?

Is the gut instinct the most trustworthy of all emotions? Can one honestly believe their gut to be unadulterated? Is it not slightly layered with experience, a hint of trauma, and just the slightest amount of crazy? Is our gut putting up defense shields based on what we’ve experienced before, protecting us from hurt again? Can the gut then be trusted to provide the best judgement? Perhaps. The gut is only trying to save us. But what of logic? Shouldn’t one break down the situation as it is, understand its various complicated layers and then come to a conclusion? If we relied on data alone, information alone, would we not be more logical and less crazy? But what are we if we only believe in information and ignore feelings? Spock, I suppose. But even Spock falters.
